Supporting Alberta Teachers and IB Students
I want to express my support for Alberta teachers during their ongoing labour dispute with the Alberta government. I was educated in Alberta schools, and my teaching career began in Alberta; the teachers, students and school communities in Alberta will always have a special place in my heart.
As Alberta teachers navigate the ongoing strike, many IB students are facing uncertainty about coursework, supervision, and essay deadlines. This includes many students whose parents are teachers/staff in Alberta schools.
I started the ToK Café to help students stay on track, stay calm, and continue developing their ideas with confidence, and I feel that is especially important when school is on pause. Because of that, I’m going to prioritize sessions with students of schools affected by the strike.
I also know that many of the teachers who are not working due to the strike (or lockout - whatever it is at the time you read this), and I want to ease the financial burden on teaching families during this time. With that in mind, sessions with students whose parents are affected by the labour dispute will be available at 50% the regular cost, if booked while the labour dispute is still ongoing.
If you’re an Alberta teacher who is the parent of an IB student, or an IB student looking for help continuing to work on your ToK essay, I’m here to support you!
